GETTING TO HARMONIA
FROM THE AIRPORT: Cheapest is to take the REAL bus (also known as the fresco onibus, the bus is blue with yellow writing) to Ipanema (R$ 12) from outside the terminal on the 1st floor of the airport. Advise the bus driver that you are going to Rua Farme de Amoedo in Ipanema. If possible sit toward the front so that the bus driver can more easily advise you when to get off. The bus takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours depending on the time of day. Walk up Rua Farme do Amoedo a couple blocks until you reach Rua Barão da Torre. Make a left and we are just after the Natural Restaurant on the left side. Enter the gate into the little sidestreet and we are house number 18, Harmonia. The bus runs from early morning until about 11 PM, after then taxi is the only option. A taxi from the airport will run about R$ 70 if you catch it outside the terminal and make them turn on the meter (the companies Aerotaxi and Aerocoop does this by deafult). If you reserve a taxi from Radiotaxi inside the terminal it will cost around R$ 120, it is the safest option since the ride will be registered paid in advance.
FROM THE BUS STATION (Rodoviária-Novo Rio): The REAL bus is R$ 7, company REAL, get off in Ipanema at Rua Farme de Amoedo. Advise the bus driver where you are going so he can tell you when to get off, it takes approximately 45 minutes. Taxi would be around R$ 50 and is eaxy to catch from a line outside the arrival hall.
When you arrive at Rua Barão da Torre N°175 there is a gate, during daytime it is open so just to put your hand inside and turn the knob, then walk to house 18 down on the left and ring the doorbell if the door is not open. If the gate is locked just ring the interphone to the left (it says Harmonia casa 18 on it) and we come and open.
Observe that there nowadays are plenty of guesthouses in our little street, all have country flags hanging outside, We have one flag and it´s Swedish (blue with a yellow cross)."
